Kim Benner, District Planner, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, EBR Registry Number 013-5020 MNRF, EBR Registry 013-5020 This is a low density, agricultural community. This pit was supposed to be returned to its original use- agricultural. The mining licence was issued based on the principle of "temporary" land use- how old is this pit? Why are area residents being subjected to longterm issues related to this pit licence? When is this pit licence going to be surrendered? Eagle Stone, a King Township company, went to the OMB decades ago to have this ill-planned cement processing plant passed; as the area residents did not want it and certainly the water table could not support it. The industrial zoning on this site plan should not be increased to support a truck container related storage rental agreement. Is this a contrived way to increase the industrial use of the property, thus property value? Does this involve another "major site plan change" in the future that depends on this proposal going through; with the ultimate long-term plans not being shared with the Town and area residents? Community concerns regarding the area aesthetics with an already obtuse building let alone a "container farm" has nothing to do with MNR policy. The proposed berms are not related to any site plan specific activity and will the berm material be from onsite; or is it going to be imported, probably for profit, and at the expense of area resident? Berms are not an attractive area feature. What jurisdiction will be monitoring this activity? Container storage can also lend itself to the storage of materials inside the containers, which is of great concern and has been newsworthy in other communities. What jurisdiction will ensure that these containers are free of unwanted and/or dangerous materials? A storm management system to support a rental agreement?????? Is the parking substrate going to be paved? A porous gravel parking area? Who is going to monitor the storm water, as area residents are well dependent. Is the pit licence holder using provincial mining policy to circumvent municipal policy? Thank you for your time and consideration, as these questions/concerns apply to many of the old Ontario pit licences, that ultimately hold municipalities and area residents hostage to a timeless/never-ending series of ever-evolving provincial loopholes and policy changes.
