I think that the proposed changes make sense. The spring bear hunt is an important tool in wildlife management and proper baiting contributes greatly to that end. With this past winter having such an impact on moose and deer populations, the spring bear hunt is needed more than ever. I am from the Sudbury District and we all know that this area is the bear capital of Ontario. With moose populations on the decline, a lack of accurate census data and a forestry plan that doesn't as yet adequately include moose management, bear management is more important than ever.
