Being that the loss of habitat is one of the key factors in causing the endangerment of a species, I find it counterproductive to then allow commercial entities of any type, environmental or otherwise to be then granted exemption from the Endangered Species Act as I see only that it would further jeopardize the remaining habitat and put not only the existing endangered species at further risk but it would also follow that other species may then be at risk as well.

What concerns me is the Liberal Government, as part of their platform swore to protect our natural environment. This action would be a violation of that directive. Why was it made an election issue if it was then to be countered? Perhaps, rather than attempting to obtain more tax dollars on the backs of endangered species, our government should be concentrating on how to save tax dollars?

I thank you for allowing me to comment on this issue.
