As usual the government is all over the electorate when elections are near, but once elected the people can now go fly a kite, because the government will do as it wants. First, to the money givers, then to the important people and then of course the powerful corporations. No wonder few people vote because they see it as useless. Even when large groups of people want change, the powerful lobby want no change, i.e. the agricultural community, as an example, when a revision is necessary to animal cruelty laws.
