Re ERO 019-0022
I strongly oppose the proposal to move bear bait piles closer to roadways and trails. Such action will inevitably bring bears and humans into closer contact with possibly disasterous outcomes. Cottagers, hikers, people walking their dogs will all be at risk of a bear encounter. Domestic pets such as dogs and cats may also find themselves in a dangerous proximity to hungry bears. As well there is the possibility that bears will venture out on to roads and highways causing traffic accidents as they make their way to the bait piles.
