I am from Toronto and have read the bill.

I like the idea of more transparency from Tarion. I'll withhold my praise until I see the regulations.

There are a number of things i do not like:

1) severe reduction in developments charges. who s going to pay for the massive infrastructure needed to support real estate projects. Consider the "Aspen Ridge" development now being touted for Don Mills and Eglinton. Who paid for the Crosstown LRT these guys are touting as a selling feature? Not the developers. Developers who built condos along Sheppard advertised :"Steps to the Subway!" but when Rob Ford went to them for transit funding they, truned him down flat.

2) Re-introduction of "de novo" hearings that put developers with deep pockets at and advatage. The city of Toronto has to defend its plan at these hearings at taxpayer expense. What happened to "respect for the taxpayers".

3) nothing done about the likes of airbnb that siphon off housing stock so investors can make a buck. Housing is too important to be treated as a commodity.

4) nothing done abut pre-sale condo agreements that place huge risk on the consumer. People cant even count on the room configurations presented during sales pitches actually being delivered in their unit.

5) forcing cities to choose between building a library or a park (for example). Silly.

Thank you.
