The Board of our Condominium has directed me (a Director), to send our strong objection to any legislation which might weaken the current Heritage Act. We feel it is important for governments to strengthen the ability of communities to retain designated heritage sites. Often these are beautiful buildings with strong emotional ties for local residents....and they may bring tourists dollars into our area. [Europe has know this for years!]
Restoration and repurpose should be encouraged. Destruction for "modern redevelopment" is shortsighted and will make future generations wonder how lawmakers could ever be so stupid.
