These changes would give authority regarding heritage matters to the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT) instead of the existing Conservation Review Board (CRB). LPAT will have the final say on approving, revoking or amending heritage protection bylaws.
However, no current LPAT members have any background in heritage. Nor are they required to have heritage expertise or an understanding of the values of the community they are judging.
Please take Schedule 11, Ontario Heritage Act, out of Bill 108. Or at minimum delay passage of the Bill to the fall in order to make changes in response to the comments received from the public. Thank you.
