As a bear outfitter, I do support changing the bait distance to 30m.
Baiting 25 sites means walking 10 km. each time I bait. (200m in and 200m out)
Not only does the 200m restriction cost me time, a lot of our hunters are not young with hip, knee, and other health issues that makes it difficult for them to get to their stands and back.
Last year we had a gentleman from Austria who walked with 2 canes.
It took him a long time to walk the distance into the bait and was dangerous for him to walk out a dark due to the terrain.
We must remember that many non resident hunters spend a lot of money to come to Ontario with cost of flights, car rentals, food, their bear hunt and other activities they spend money on while they are here.
