I strongly oppose this proposal.
There is nothing in this proposal that explains why baiting 200 metres away is unclear which was one of the main reasons that this change is being proposed. There is nothing in this proposal to rationalize why 30 metres is more clear.
This change is also being proposed without any acknowledgement to the fact that baiting bears closer to roadways will increase bear deaths. It will also increase bear deaths by increasing bear-human conflicts which contradicts Section 6 of their black bear management plan AND increases the likelihood of bears being shot.
This is not in keeping with sustainable population management and a reduced bear population will negatively affect hunting in the future.
