I very much object to the proposed changing of the minimum distance for the location of baiting for bear hunting from 200 metres to 20 metres off of recreational trails. Such a change greatly increases the likelihood of injury to humans and other creatures. For years I have used trails to hike and run with my dog. My dog is attracted to scents and with aitingbeing. Much closer to trails - he would be much more likely to find and eat the bait, and to come into contact with bears nearby. This puts me at greater risk of encountering a feeding bear while trying to protect my dog and, yself, and to try and keep us both out of hunters range of shooting.
Hunting should never be done loser to recreational trails. This limits the use of trails to hunters only due to the safety hazards of humans and pets being too close. Hunters can use 4x4s or hike further in to safely hunt.
Mixing hunting too close to others is extremely dangerous. I have stand spoken with hunters who managed to shoot and injure members of their own hunting group due to their close proximity.
