I object to this proposal and can't fathom why it is being considered. Bear baiting sites should be moved farther away, not closer! This proposal caters to a lazy, inconsiderate mindset, which are not traits you wish to see in those with loaded guns. If hunters want an easy kill, they should go to game farms, not our wilderness areas. More and more, these areas in Ontario are being used by the general public, not just hunters. Moving bait placement closer to rights of way is dangerous for those using these trails for hiking, biking and ATV riding, to name a few. In addition to the safety concerns for the general public, these bait sites end up being trash sites. Those who are too lazy to travel into the wilderness just 200 metres are often too lazy to pick up their waste, which includes bait pails, as well as other garbage resulting from what they consume while "hunting". Bait sites should be moved 500 metres away from trails and roadways, not closer.
