Hunters are CREATING problem bears !!!!
Bears have an extremely sensitive sense of smell - it is said that they can smell carcasses from as much as 20 km./32 miles away !!
The baits used are often based on stale donuts, with molasses and spoiled fish and other human food. They are left out 24/7, for lazy men to murder bears. while sitting on tree stands. This is NOT hunting - this is selective slaughter.
Once drawn in the area, how is a bear to differentiate between the bait and Tim Horton's ? Much less with rotting garbage ?
Worse, is that even if the mother bears are scared off the bait, they've now got the taste for sweets, and come into town with their cubs.
Innocent bears and people will be injured and die if the baits come closer. 😢
But this "hunting" also lures in hunters and tourists to communities which profit, and may depend, on it. So it is strongly supported by those towns.
It is terrifying that there can be novice "hunters" out with .375 caliber rifles capable of killing at 550 metres/600 yards away !! Surely a safer distance should be a KILOMETRE from paths frequented
by non-hunters !
