I totally object to the proposal of reducing bait distances from places people use, as this would put all kinds of people at risk of being shot.
The wilderness of Ontario is used by many who prefer not to cause damage to the environment that supports our lives, or to the animals that also call it home.
Bears are not dangerous when left to live their lives as long as people don't bait them and cause them harm. People are the ones who are dangerous!
Hiking, camping, and otherwise living or being near where bear hunting happens IS dangerous because of the hunters. Hunters have harmed more people than bears have.
Ontario should not allow this change to take place.
In fact, Ontario should ban bear baiting altogether!
It's completely contradictory to tell people to secure their garbage and then allow people to feed them just to kill these innocent and majestic animals that are more like Newfoundland dogs than the hunters are human.
