I am very. distressed about the idea of reducing the setback distance for bear baiting from 200 to 30 metres off public paths and roadways. This is going to be a recipe for disaster for walkers and pets.
It will definitely increase the danger of accidental shootings as bears are brought closer to walking traffic on public trails and roadways. It will also increase interaction between bears and walkers and drivers in general.
When I voted for this government I was not expecting this irresponsible decision to reduce the bait distance and putting people, their pets and wildlife at risk.
Please reconsider this dangerous course of action simply caters to lazy hunters.
