The reasons for shortening the distance appear to be simply money and convenience for guides and "hunters". It also further puts the advantage to the hunters. Basically they can now just set up line of bait buckets and have a drive by shooting! While our bear populations may currently be healthy, increased hunter success may rapidly change that and skew the population genetics. If some other disease shows up, I fear that our bear populations may become at risk.
I am also seriously concerned about the safety of recreational users of public roads and trails should the distance be shortened from 200 to 30 m.
Please do NOT allow this change!!
