-I don't think it's fair to visitors to charge parking fee where there is nothing provided for their comfort. I'm talking about New Wasaga Beach. Parking obtaining machine is open long before there is even garbage containers installed or washroom is open. Washrooms are separate story. I wonder how many officials tried to use those washrooms, not visiting but actually use it. I've seen people try to use it and then leave the beach immediately after with comments like "it's something from horror movie in real life! couldn't imagine something like that exists in Canada!" People with kids use a outside wall rather than risking to go inside!
-Garbage containers should be left all year round. May be not as many as during the season but at least one next to each parking ticket machine and have an agreement with Wasaga Beach town to have it cleaned at least couple of times a month, then we wouldn't have all kind of garbage all over the beach and adjacent territory in spring. During off season mostly local residents walking the beaches and we try to collect garbage along the way as much as we can, but we can't carry it all the way home, but for sure will take it to the closest garbage container, even if it's the only one on the beach.
-During high season garbage containers often overflowed. Why not to have a sign with phone number of the park rangers that people will use to let you know when it needs to be emptied. It's cheap alternative to sending rangers when it is unnecessary. Maybe visitors wouldn't use it, but those who is local will, because we care.
-Last winter some fence was installed on New Wasaga Beach(thou we couldn't get what it does), now it's summer and it is still there. Can someone tell us what is the purpose of it? Because it's sure looks ugly, not to mention it limits the beach access.
-And last but not least the plover issue. I read somewhere that they like natural environment but not dirty environment. So maybe it's time to start to rake New Wasaga Beach. Maybe not with the frequency they do beach1, but there is so much stuff and garbage washes out of Nottawasaga river and ends up on the beach that it becomes a safety concern. We found broken bottles, twisted metal, fishing hooks, aluminium cans and all kind of other debris to name a few, even some furniture...!
-We have a privilege of living in beautiful part of Canada and trying to preserve this beaty for our future generations, but we would love to enjoy it as well now.
