The controlled hunts are not really needed anymore. I would like to see archery only areas like before in heavy populated areas. All areas south of 401 are getting more populated and it's just a matter of time until someone gets shot. We have 5 controlled hunt camps within less than a 5 km half circle of our property. The total number of hunters in these groups are 50 plus hunters in this small of an area. So how is this really controlling the number of hunters in a single area or WMU.
If the controlled hunt is kept, I would like to see every application have a place for the farmer, landowner to sign the application saying they have permission to hunt on their property. This would stop most or all trespassing.
I hear so many comments from hunters in the controlled hunt that lie and say they see more deer than they do see so they have a better chance of getting drawn for the controlled hunt the next year.
