As a resident of Hastings…

As a resident of Hastings County I am opposed to the amendment of the official plan to allow Freymond Lumber to operate a quarry. Like many others, I moved to this area to enjoy the natural environment around Bancroft. I understand that Bancroft has historically been a mining community but it is no more. Cottagers, tourists and people like me who spend their money in this town are the future for Bancroft. The idea of allowing this to proceed so that one family can enrich itself at the expense of the local economy and the environment is ludicrous. Please make a careful analysis of where the true economic and environmental benefits derive for Bancroft before allowing this to proceed.
