Ontario wants to exempt the logging industry from Ontario’s Endangered Species at Risk Act until at least 2020.
If these exemptions are approved, the already threatened caribou are at risk of losing the vast expanses of forest they need to survive.
It is completely unacceptable to exempt the logging industry from rules that protect the caribou and the boreal forest.
Environmental and animal protection have to stand as goals that supersede the logging industries wealth accumulation. Our survival as a species depends on the survival of the species around us--we are an ecosystem. The time to protect the caribou under Ontario's Endangered Species at Risk Act is NOW! The time to protect the boreal forest is also NOW! A move to sustainable sources of wood is critical in the protection of the boreal forest and animals--including humans! For the love of God, act now .
