Mineral exploration has been carried out at this site since the 1800's. Clearly as the site is still pristine, mineral exploration has had virtually no adverse impact. Now the environmental groups are stating on national TV and radio that it is their intent to see the mineral leases effectively confiscated with with cooperation of the Ontario government, with no compensation. Even though over 100 years of exploration has left this site intact and pristine as described by the environmental groups themselves. No doubt they would like to see many more mineral leases in the Sudbury area similarly confiscated. Responsible mineral exploration and development should proceed not only at this site, but at all high mineral potential sites. Underground mining would have very limited impact on the surface or the trees if any.
