Our few remaining natural areas need all the protection they can get. These areas are a crucial for:
- providing places for people to visit for stress reduction, mental health and recreation
-providing ecosystem services such as cleaning air, water, and building soils
- providing habitat for wildlife including those we depend on directly such as pollinators
- mitigating climate change so that our descendants may survive on this planet in some form of comfort
We in Ontario, already have large amounts of gravel remaining in the pits that exist now. We need to learn to reduce our dependence on extracting new materials and recycle the ones we already have. IF we don't quickly learn how to do more with less, this generation will be responsible for the loss of billions of the lives of future generations.
