The area surrounding Wolf Lake has the last standing old growth Red Pine forest ON THIS PLANET. Protecting our natural ecosystems are far more important than finding new ore deposits. Especially with the increase in mine-tailings mineral extraction, new developments made in current mine sites, and the expense of other deposits possible in areas that have less of an important ecosystem value. The area around Wolf Lake was used at the baseline for revegetation and remediation in the Sudbury area. We as a city have held this lake and forest ecosystem on a very high pedestal, and protecting the environment around the lake is seen as essential to several people. Opening this land for development will be a major and irreparable mistake.
