The summary states that the changes are proposed while maintaining strong protection for the environment. Nowhere in the details are there any changes mention the environment. Currently, I do not think the existing act has strong protection for the environment and nothing in the changes do anything to address this. The changes are all business directed and do nothing for the environment or species at risk. Please call that your changes are for business and drop the word environment.
The summary also states that the changes manage impacts on the communities. The opposite is true with many of the municipality's responsibility and oversight eliminated. Residents will have fewer opportunities to provide feedback on quarries in their area.
Look to the future and add changes that truly protect the environment, protect the species at risk and let residents weigh in on proposed quarries that affect them significantly.
