We need to expand environmental protection, and this means both more stringent regulations and increased fines for noncompliance.
Time and time again corporations have showed us they are terrible stewards of the environment, and need legislation to achieve even a modicum of responsibilty.
Furthermore, this legislation must be enforced!
The cost of cleanups always much more costly than prevention, and when human health is impacted, it is so much more serious.
In many cases, the damage to the environment is not even fixable after the fact.
Please reconsider any thoughts of softening environmental regulations and reducing fines.
We do not ever want another Walkerton event here in Ontario.
