I have just read an article recently published by Inside Ottawa Valley (insideottawavalley.com/toxins), on how the new Provincial Conservative Government's Open for Business mantra is poisoning our environment even more.
This article explains how our new government has repealed the Toxics Reduction Act (TRA), axing a voluntary reduction program that empowered people to see what toxins are used in the industrial facilities in our neighbourhood -- and what they planned to do to reduce them. This program was very effective in helping local industries tweak their processes to reduce the amount of toxins released into the environment -- toxins like ethanol and toluene. Keep in mind that in 2016, there were 1,046 facilities using at least one of the 348 toxic substances listed under the TRA. And now, all restrictions are gone!

As a resident of Ontario, I am increasingly concerned that my health and the health of my family (including my children and grandchildren) is considered a trivial trade-off in this Open for Business approach of the new provincial Conservative government.

If you care about your constituents (of which I am one), as you profess to do, please protect our health -- and our family's health -- by restricting the release of toxins into the environment. There are enough people dying from cancer -- at a young age too -- without the Conservative party making it even worse.
