Extend Alternative Notification Signage Requirements for Land Extermination to 2 Kilometres

In section 79 (2) a new table is proposed, where column 2 outlines alternatives to notify the public of the application area. Item 3 includes application to a portion of a highway. New alternatives (Column 2, item 3) to posting a sign every 100m such as (2 ii) posting a sign at least every kilometre along the portion of the highway is an excellent idea. However if a sign must also be posted "at every point where another highway intersects the portion of the highway that is the application area", then more signs than necessary may need to be posted. We propose that the guidelines be modified to require a sign every 2km because most concessions roads are approximately 1 mile apart. This would allow most signs to be posted at intersecting roads only except where the distance between intersecting roads is greater than 2km. Most intersections are the optimal location to notify the public of application and extending the requirement to 2km would ensure that the public is still adequately notified, while minimizing excessive signage.
