#4) Please include OPHEA, CANBIKE, and other curriculum writers/developers in your plans to develop a comprehensive cycling educati that doesn't allow children to acquire a skill set necessary to keep them safe on the roads. I recognize these events are fun, but they are not addressing the need and lagging skills that many kids have when it comes to judgment, knowledge and confidence sharing the road on their bikes.
Consistency in cycling education will be important to ensure the youth in Ontario are prepared to become life long cyclists. Empowering them with the correct information, skill set and confidence early on will lead to increased physical activity, active transportation as a normal and even the go-to behavior, and self reliance.
