Item #2: Improve cycling infrastructure
I believe that there are tremendous opportunities to promote and expand cycle tourism in the rural and small towns of Ontario. eg. Brockville, Athens, Morrisburg, etc. The existing road network needs to include paved shoulders on busy roads and proper asphalt paving on secondary and county roads. My experience is that local municipalities are using a "tar & chip" method to resurface roads rather that asphalt. The result is that the road become unusable for cyclists. I recommend that additional funding be provided to municipalities to properly resurface roads that are identified in the province-wide cycling network to ensure that these roads remain available for cycle tourism.
