Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the Proposed Changes to the Crown Forest Sustainability Act (CFSA), Environmental Registry of Ontario number 019-1020. I have been working in all aspects of managing Ontario’s natural resources for over 3 decades and involved in ensuring Ontarian s will have the forests and wildlife for generations to come. I have also been involved in trying to manage Species at risk under two different Acts. Since there has not been a permanent solution for forestry since the ESA came into effect and that the current Section 55 Rules and Regulation will expire this June I commend this government in finding a permanent solutions and thereby support this proposal.

However I make the following comments; the changes to the CFSA should not come with conditions; the groups currently working on changes to manuals and acts be given all the resources necessary (including financial) to complete their tasks post haste; and changes be made to the Ontario Professional Foresters Act so that there is a body that can enforce the Acts, Reg’s Policies, plans, etc ensuring the public that Ontario’s natural resources are being manage sustainably.
