The bear hunt is so typical of our human attitude to do with animals as we please without thinking of the human consequences. Not only have we killed 2/3 of our present day mammals and 50% of our birds, we still haven't learned our lesson that without animals (and plants) we cannot survive. We need bio diversity to continue to live healthy lives. We may believe that planting trees is the answer to our carbon problems, but the real problem is that trees do NOT make a forest. Forests need biodiversity of all creatures, plants, insects, including bears, foxes, and wolves.
Killing bears, and may I say in a cowardly manner, is another step toward human extinction.
