Bringing back the spring bear hunt is obviously damaging to ecosystems and biodiversity. The spring is a time when many animals (particularly hibernating animals) need to be protected, as they are particularly vulnerable. The spring beat hunt is so damaging to the species, as it wipes out entire families of bears when the cubs are orphaned. The government cannot possibly say simultaneously that bear hunting should be reduced, and that we should bring back a hunting strategy that’s exceedingly damaging to the bear population. There are no clear, evidence supported claims as to the benefit, but biologists and ecologists agree it would be damaging. It would be reprehensible for the government to continue with this proposed action.
