The spring bear hunt is unethical, allowing for lactating female bears to be killed as long as their cubs aren't with them. Cubs are often left alone while their mother goes out to get food, and she is attracted to bait sites as she is hungry since she has been hibernating all winter. Studies have shown time and again that the spring bear hunt does not reduce human-bear interactions. Humans need to be more responsible about leaving things out that attract bears, rather than unethically killing them for sport. We are not on this planet to unilaterally enforce our will on all the natural resources of the lands, we share this planet with animals, and we need to be more respectful of that fact.
