As a resident of Baden in Wilmot Township, I have serious concerns about the impact of aggregate extraction on the environment, especially the water table, as well as on the communities around them. I do not support any proposals to weaken safeguards to protect our water or to deprive local governments from exercising their authority.
I support the Region of Waterloo’s suggestions for source water protection. I also support the Citizens for Safe Ground Water’s comments to the Environmental Registry.
Saving money for the aggregate extraction industry should not be the number one priority when the safety of our drinking water and the quality of our lives is concerned.
