I would like to add my support for the Centre of Wellington group "Save Our Water" comments on Updating Ontario’s Water Quantity Management Proposal. I am a resident of Kitchener and where the city is dependent on ground water for our water so I know how important it is to protect the water in our watershed. To reiterate the points made by "Save Our Water" residents group:
- the host community must give consent for water bottling companies to take water from the watershed of their community.
- the users of water must be prioritized with the highest priority being drinking water and the environment.
- water usage should be managed on a watershed basin.
- data on water used by Ontario to manage water usage should be transparent. All residents of Ontario should have access to the data used to make water usage decisions.
Currently I am a resident of Waterloo Region where the management of the water in the Grand River watershed is of great importance to the city I live in. It is important the decisions made about water are made in a transparent way and involve the municipalities that are effected.
