Municipalities must have a say in this. The host Municipality must have veto power as they are accountable to the citizens to ensure we are able to continue to live. Corporations cannot have autonomy to jeopardize the welfare of those impacted by local water supplies.
I also want water recognized as a basic human right. Attention must be paid to cumulative effects of many water takers on a regional area or watershed.
The data must be accurate and transparent. I am not convinced the Government has put protocols in place to truly monitor how much water is being extracted the way utilities do on citizens for their use.
Overall, I am morally opposed to the practice of water extraction for profit and believe this practice needs to end. In lieu of that happening, I would be more comfortable if the above were in place.
