At some point in the future the publics of the world will look back on plastic bottled water use. Surely they will see us as some sort of unthinking sheep to have tolerated this practice. They will have the ruined bottles to ponder. They will know that much energy was used to create the bottles and that people used them because they had been fooled into thinking the water within was safer and that the bottles were actually recycled. They may marvel that convenience was so important to the people of those times.
The costs of plastic bottled water are well known now. There must be a plan to quickly phase our the practice of compounding the problems of taking water from aquifers and rivers and of producing the packaging that is becoming a landfill plaque.
Any government that listens to those who want this to end will have the support of many who have long protested plastic bottled water use. I hope the governments have what it takes to quickly end water extraction and plastic bottled water sales. It is obvious.
