Eliminating the draw is a fantastic improvement. it will allow all falconers to trap a bird in the traditional methods of falconry, the way it has been practiced for thousands of years .Releasing the bird back to the wild to breed in the spring and trapping a young bird the next fall is a very important falconry tradition this way there is zero impact on the wild population. The mortality rate is highest amongst the hawks in their first year of life. This will help some birds get through their first year that otherwise may not have made it. Having access to a new bird every year will dramatically improve falconry , apprentices and all falconers will gain valuable experience they could never get from a captive bred bird.
