Mineral exploration is a key facet of Ontario's economy, providing thousands of jobs and millions of dollar in revenue to the Ontario government and people of Ontario each year. Despite past wrongs, mineral exploration in Ontario can, and is being done in a way that minimizes environmental impacts in both the short and long term. In fact, mineral exploration is one of the most strictly regulated industries with regards to rules surrounding environmental impact and protections. I agree that the Wolf Lake area is significant from an ecological aspect, but without the proceeds of mineral exploration there would be no funding to maintain, protect and support many of these lakes from other threats, and to employ the people within the region that may further visit, enjoy and support Ontario's great outdoors. I believe that mineral exploration around Wolf Lake can be undertaken by the company in a way that satisfies both goals of protecting the Old Growth forests and testing the potential for economic resources within the region. Therefore I urge you to accept this proposal so that work may take place, under the comprehensive environmental regulations already outlined and enforced by MNDM and the Ontatio Government.
