Wolf Lake is an integral part of the Chiniguchi Waterway. Canoers and campers from the Sudbury region, including many of the High schools in the region, use this area for outdoor education. The area is also popular with long canoe trips from Lake Temagami through the lower reaches and the Chiniguchi river. Recently, The Paradise Lagoon, downstream of Silvester Lake, has become popular with local tourists. Wolf Lake is surrounded by a pristine old growth forest. This zone must be preserved, as Ontario has lost most old growth red pine forests.
The Ontario government should once and for all designate this land as protected, include it in the Chiniguchi Waterway, and stop allowing work. The government should stop allowing exploration activities in the area, as higher expenditures will increase the likelihood of mining and interfering with nature tourism. Exploration of these prospects will continue until the land is included in the Chiniguchi Waterway reserve. Stop the exploration now, before too much money is spent on activities, as a delay in designating this area as protected land will not be favorable to the individual/company conducting the exploration. The government should send a message to the exploration team that they should focus on other prospects.
