As a new student in the environmental field this year, the focus of most discussions seems to revolve around climate change, fossil fuels, greenhouse gases, all these terms that the public is so desensitized to that the meaning is inevitably lost in translation. The truth is 97% of scientists believe that human activity is directly impacting climate change by the use of fossil fuels. It's time for us to stand with the planet, with each other, for us to come together in the name of the future of the earth. Modern society loves putting monetary value on any and all resources, but what about the value of earth? Of water? Of soil? It's time for us to seek new ventures to fill the demands of the growing population without neglecting the demands of the environment. It's time to make the change to renewables. It's time to harness the power of resources we have abundances of, like sunlight, and wind. It's time to reduce our footprint. It's time, Canada.
