I think it is an irresponsible decision to allow any sort of drilling, pitting, stripping or trenching in the proposed zone. This is a beautifully pristine area used by countless community members and tourists who frequent the area. Any sort of mining development will degrade the natural landscape, negatively impact and displace habitat of local fauna and physically destroy the flora in the area. Less people will frequent the area if this were to move forward, it will physically look unappealing and it will negatively impact all living things in the area. Not only would the drilling, pitting, stripping and trenching have a negative impact, but the subsequent activities and impacts are a major concern of mine. Possible erosion, sinkholes, loss of biodiversity, contamination of the soil and groundwater and surface water from any and all of the chemicals emitted from the above process will have negative inter generational effects that cannot be restored. I think this permit should not be approved and this decision will have a direct impact on my vote in the next election - and my personal advocacy and effort to vote against the party should this move forward.
