I have read the new proposal, and I support the new changes. 25 permits from the old regulations were not sufficient as many apprentices had to wait many years to get a permit from the limited pool of apprentice permits. This new proposal will greatly improve the chances of getting a passage bird to fly, therefore apprentices will be better equipped when handling birds of prey, to ensure the safety for not only the falconer, but also the bird. Also regarding the limited take of goshawks, I support the proposal as five permits per year would not affect the wild population. Being that they are hard to breed, it would give falconers a chance to train and fly this species.
