This is a welcomed initiative, as it both supports our need for improved environmental stewardship (given the resource of old growth forests as effective sequesters of carbon) and our commitment to honour the rights and land title of indigenous peoples. Additionally, through multiple generations of living off the land and understanding how it functions, indigenous peoples remain most well equipped to conserve the integrity and prosperity of natural areas, such as the following forested-lands. I strongly encourage you to adopt this measure in full and have it remain a precedent for the management of other forested areas across our province.
