Falconry is an important human cultural expression that builds empathy with the natural world.I support the measured expansion of the capture of wild birds as hunting companions for trained falconers. I have observed the responsible care of wild birds undertaken by a young falconer that I know and have also observed his commitment to the conservation of birds of prey in the wild via annual surveys and monitoring. As long as there is ongoing monitoring of birds in the wild by MNR to maintain adequate populations in the wild, I support this proposal.
