I am writing in support of the "Proposal to expand the live capture of wild raptors (birds of prey) by licensed falconers."
ERO number: 019-1806
My daughter is a very responsible falconer dedicated to the health and safety of all the birds.
It makes sense that the apprentice is able to capture and train his own bird of prey, utilizing the vast experience of the sponsor.
Falconry heritage is recognized by Unesco as “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”
The MNRF is adopting an approach that has been successful in other provinces and the U.S.
Falconry has been practiced this way for thousands of years and has helped sustain the population.
This encourages more active conservation and citizen science.
More educated falconers create more responsible outcomes.
