Hello,
As a naturalist and public educator, I feel very strongly against the proposal. Ask any birder in the province, Northern Goshawks are extremely hard to find in Ontario. The limited Ontario goshawk population, and greatly reduced Great Lakes population as a whole, do not need this added pressure, especially as they continue to face threats including habitat loss and climate change. This would be a major step back for bird conservation and wildlife management in the province. Falconers already has access to captive-bred goshawks, this move would only encourage resentment against the participants of that hobby.
With great concern,
Maxwell Matchim
