I support the proposal presented within EBR 019-1806.I do not participate in the art of falconry but have encountered this beautiful bond through the Ontario Hawking club that has conducted demonstrations at the Luther Marsh Youth Outdoors Day and my friend who is a falconer. I have learned about the incredible effort in training and caring of these awesome birds, and this dedication is truly inspiring to me and my family. I do not consider myself an individual who knows a lot about our natural resources but have gained knowledge through my friend that I could state unequivocally that if the proposal did not support the conservation initiatives/wildlife management model that falconers would be the first to step up to say so. But this is not the case, falconers and Wildlife managers base their decisions upon sound scientific evidence as stated within EBR 019-1806, i.e. there is “neutral” impact on the species to be trapped for falconry. Falconry itself is an art which stimulates people to take a closer look at our natural world, it is one of the reasons why the proposal is needed to perpetuate this noble and worthy cultural heritage, as such EBR 019-1806 has my full endorsement.
