In western Canada they have a great way of handling recyclables.

Recycling will never work if the general public are not committed.

Many people will "sort of recycle" or not at all very few people will recycle everything that is recyclable.

Western Canada has fixed this problem and the public keeps the streets clean as well.

Everything you purchase out west that is recyclable plastics, cans, containers have a recycling deposit of 10 cents per container added to the purchase at the till.

When the consumer returns the recyclable container to a designated depot which are generally located at a grocery store they are refunded their 10 cent deposit.

Cost effective also promotes and encourages recycling.

Eliminates the cost of curb side blue box pick up. Out west you always see residents walking, riding quads etc along the highways picking up garbage 10 cents per container really adds up. You see homeless collecting containers on road side also out of garbage cans at gas bars etc eliminating these containers from reaching landfills.

People will recycle when the loss or gains have a personal financial effect on themselves.

This is a suggestion which you may be able incorporate into your recycling program

Thank you for your consideration
