As a homeowner as well as a Certified Energy Manager, I am wholly supportive of this proposal towards widespread Green Button adoption in Ontario. A fundamental challenge facing homeowners and building owners is the lack of granularity in energy use reporting, and this hinders the ability to identify energy conservation measures without carrying out significant work. Further, the ability to obtain this data could form a valuable stepping stone in broader building energy management, permitting electricity and gas trends to be better assessed.

Everything I have heard about the Green Button program in both my professional (consulting and academic) roles has given me a high degree of confidence in this approach and I applaud the Government of Ontario in this proposal.
